BRICS+ University Rectors Forum
The BRICS+ Universities Rectors' Forum will take place in Rio de Janeiro between June 5 and 7, 2025, under the motto "Education, Artificial Intelligence, Sustainable Development, Inclusion, Diversity, Poverty Alleviation, and Standardisation in the BRICS+ Space."
This forum serves as a strategic platform for academic and scientific collaboration among the leading universities of BRICS+ member states, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, and more.
In 2025, the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) will host the Second Rectors’ Forum in collaboration with the National Association of Directors of Federal Higher Education Institutions (ANDIFES), the Forum of Rectors of Public Educational Institutions of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FRIPERJ), and with the support of the Federal Government and the City of Rio de Janeiro. This initiative aims to strengthen ties among higher education institutions in the participating countries and position Rio de Janeiro as a global hub for knowledge, science, and innovation.
The inaugural Rectors’ Forum was held at Lomonosov Moscow State University in 2024, marking a groundbreaking initiative that united university rectors and presidents from Russia, Belarus, and Brazil before expanding to include other BRICS+ nations.
The upcoming forum is anticipated to draw over 300 participants, including university rectors and their representatives, along with officials from government agencies and the academic community of BRICS+ members and partners.
