On December 19, 2025, Nizhny Novgorod will host the BRICS International School: New Generation, a flagship international educational project for young leaders from the BRICS nations.

The programme is organised by the BRICS Expert Council-Russia, HSE University in Moscow, and HSE University in Nizhny Novgorod, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The choice of host city is not incidental: in 2025, Nizhny Novgorod became the first Russian city to receive the honorary title "Youth Capital of Russia." This distinction highlights the city's role as a centre of gravity for talent, innovation, and active youth community—a perfect fit for the School's spirit and objectives.

Participation is open to scientists, analysts, diplomats, representatives of ministries and state agencies, think tank experts, entrepreneurs, journalists, and leaders of youth and civil society organisations from the BRICS countries, aged 18 to 35.

The programme will feature master classes, strategic sessions, team projects, business games, and cultural activities. Young leaders will have the opportunity to explore key areas of BRICS cooperation and discuss the group's role in building a sustainable, multipolar world.

This is the School's first regional programme, representing a new phase in the project's growth and its expansion into key regions of Russia. Hosting the School in Nizhny Novgorod—a major national centre for science, education, and industrial development—highlights the importance of integrating regional expertise into the BRICS agenda.

The School's key mission is to cultivate a community of young professionals committed to international dialogue, intercultural exchange, and the collaborative development of practical solutions to advance a positive BRICS agenda.

Launched in Russia in 2017, the programme has evolved into an international movement, engaging over 700 participants from 60 nations. Its alumni act as BRICS ambassadors, launch joint initiatives, contribute to expert groups, and build careers in NGOs, business, and government.
