The HSE hosted the first meeting of representatives of the Russian non-profit sector in preparation for the BRICS Civil Society Forum

The first meeting of the Russian NGO Working Group on BRICS and G20 issues was held with the participation of more than 50 representatives of non-profit organizations. The participants of the event discussed key issues related to the interaction of representatives of the civil society of the BRICS countries - the goals, objectives and formats of the work of the non-profit sector on this track within the framework of the Russian presidency of the association in 2024, as well as preparations for the BRICS Civil Society Forum, which will be held on July 3-4 this year in Moscow.

 

The topics of discussion also included:

• the action plan of the civic track for 2024;
• thematic areas of activity of the working groups of the BRICS Civil Society Forum.

 

In preparation for the BRICS Civil Society Forum, a series of meetings and round tables in a hybrid format with the participation of Russian and foreign representatives of civil society is planned.

 

The outcome of the Forum will be a prepared appeal to the Summit of the Future under the auspices of the UN General Assembly "The Right to Development: Equality, Equity, Justice", as well as consolidated proposals from civil society to the leaders of the BRICS countries in accordance with the official agenda of the Russian presidency of the association.
