On July 4, the BRICS Expert Council held a press conference at MIA Rossiya Segodnya following the results of the BRICS Civil Society Forum.
On July 3-4, in Moscow, in accordance with the official calendar of events of the Russian Federation's BRICS presidency, a Civic Forum was held – a discussion and presentation platform for civil society of the member countries of the association and invited states, which began its work in 2015 on the initiative of Russia.
On the sidelines of the forum, under the motto "Strengthening multilateralism in the interests of equitable global development and security," invited speakers and guests from the BRICS countries and the global majority discussed the goals and principles of equitable development and an equitable world order. The issues of education, sovereign economic and financial development, ethics of new technologies, public health and human well-being, environment and cities of the future, energy transition and social justice were discussed.
Following the results of the forum, recommendations developed by civil society will be transmitted through sherpa and su-sherpa channels to the leaders of the BRICS countries.
The BRICS Civil Society Forum was organized by the BRICS National Coordinator of Expert and civil areas, the BRICS Expert Council, established on the basis of the HSE in 2024 by order of the Government of the Russian Federation on the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance of Russia.
