The first meeting of representatives of Russian NGOs within the framework of the BRICS civil track was held in Moscow
More than 50 representatives of non-profit organizations took part in the meeting. They discussed the action plan for 2024 and the thematic areas of activity of the working groups of the BRICS Civil Society Forum, which will be held in Moscow in July this year. The work of the civic track of the association is coordinated by the Expert Council on the Participation of the Russian Federation in the BRICS association at the HSE.

The theme of Russia's BRICS presidency this year is “Strengthening multilateralism for equitable global development and security.” I am sure that the role of civil society organizations will only increase, and the new member countries of the association will demonstrate a desire to actively join the agenda and will be able to develop a consolidated position on ensuring equitable, sustainable and equitable development. The BRICS Civil Society Forum is a discussion and presentation platform for civil society of the member countries of the association and invited countries, which began work in 2015 on the initiative of Russia. This year it will be held on July 3-4 in Moscow. In preparation for the forum, a series of meetings and round tables will be held with the participation of Russian and foreign representatives of civil society.
The meeting of representatives of Russian NGOs at the Higher School of Economics was the first event of this cycle. It presented the action plan of the BRICS civil track in 2024 and the thematic areas of the forum's working groups. Elena Peryshkina, Director of the AIDS Infosvyaz Foundation, and Elena Topoleva-Soldunova, Director of the ANO Agency for Social Information, member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, who are also co-chairs of the BRICS Civil Society Forum, spoke at the meeting.
The BRICS Expert Council acts as the national coordinator of the expert and civic tracks in the association from Russia, is responsible for the preparation and holding of the BRICS Academic and Civic Forums.
The BRICS Expert Council was established in accordance with the instructions of the Government of the Russian Federation on the basis of the Higher School of Economics at the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance of Russia. The Council is engaged in expert, analytical and scientific activities on topical issues of political, socio-economic and humanitarian cooperation in the association.
