A meeting of the working group of the BRICS Civil Society Forum "Culture, Sport and Tourism" was held in Moscow

On May 16, at the HSE site, at the initiative of the BRICS Expert Council, a meeting of the working group of the BRICS Civil Society Forum "Culture, Sports and Tourism" was held in the format of a videoconference. During the event, Russian and foreign participants discussed recommendations to the leaders of the BRICS countries on the issues of the BRICS civil agenda.

The event discussed draft recommendations to the leaders of the BRICS countries on the topic of culture, sports and tourism, prepared by Russian colleagues. Representatives of civil society from India, China and South Africa joined the Russian members of the group. The meeting was moderated by the Chairman of the RF CC Commission on Territorial Development, Urban Environment and Infrastructure, Director of the Research Center for Territorial Changes and Urban Development of the Institute of Applied Economic Research of the RANEPA and co-chairman of the working group Andrey Maksimov. The videoconference was attended by: Co-chairman of the working group, Professor Mayada Bilal from Helwan University of Egypt and expert on tourism development, Dr. Mohammed Selim, Professor Snehal Tavre, Director of the Snewardhan Research Institute, University of Pune, India, Akil Mohammad, Director and Rahul Sharma, Project Manager of the International Youth Foundation Edu-Skills, India, Letive Maritz, Project Director of the BRICS Youth Association, South Africa and others.

 

During the event, special attention was paid to the development of specific measures and tools to promote mutual understanding and strengthen friendly ties between the peoples of the BRICS countries through significant cultural and sports programs. Foreign experts expressed great interest in participating in theThe BRICS Civil Society Forum.

 

Representatives of the working group plan to send all the proposals announced during the event for inclusion in the final version of the document, which will become an effective tool for further development of cooperation in the fields of culture, sports and tourism between the BRICS countries. The participants stressed the importance of the principles of sovereignty, openness, inclusivity, equality, as well as respect for the cultural diversity of the BRICS countries.
