On December 3, the BRICS International School: New Generation commenced in Rio de Janeiro, uniting 85 young professionals from across the globe. This first-ever session in Brazil is part of the official calendar of Brazil's BRICS Chairship and aims to foster international dialogue and knowledge-sharing among young professionals, the future leaders of the BRICS nations. The project is organised by the BRICS Expert Council-Russia, HSE University, and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).

At the opening ceremony, Victoria Panova, Head of the BRICS Expert Council-Russia, Vice Rector at HSE University, and Sherpa of Russia in W20, welcomed the School’s participants. She underscored that the project is a flagship youth initiative, creating a space for meaningful dialogue and collaborative problem-solving. The Head of the BRICS Expert Council-Russia also highlighted the School's substantial growth in recent years, establishing it as a significant international platform that brings together young leaders committed to advancing cooperation within BRICS.

Following the ceremony, the School sessions began. Throughout the day, lectures and discussions delved into BRICS history, the priorities of the upcoming Indian Chairship, the role of BRICS in global transformation, and the influence of the BRICS countries on the world economy and financial system. Participants engaged actively in the discussions and exchanged views with international experts.

The School continues its work, with upcoming sessions covering the outcomes of Brazil’s Chairship, prospects for youth initiatives, the climate agenda ahead of COP30, and a discussion on the future of BRICS institutions.
