Representatives of the BRICS Expert Council took part in the X BRICS Youth Summit
The X BRICS Youth Summit was held in Ulyanovsk from July 22 to 26. For the first time, the event brought together representatives of youth organizations, students and activists from all BRICS countries, including new members of the association: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Iran. The summit was attended by representatives of the BRICS Expert Council, which was established in accordance with the instructions of the Government of the Russian Federation on the basis of the HSE at the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance of Russia.
During the X Youth Summit, participants discussed a wide range of issues: from ecology and innovative technologies to youth entrepreneurship and education. The program was rich and included master classes, panel discussions, business breakfasts and dinners, where experts from the BRICS member countries shared their experiences on leadership, career development and social responsibility. Special attention was paid to joint projects that can be implemented within the framework of the association's activities.
The presentation of the international youth media platform took place at the summit. The media platform is a multi–level website that will allow you to accumulate the most important information for young people. Currently, news of education, science, culture and youth cooperation are available on the platform.

The first positive responses have already been received, how convenient, accessible it is and allows you to get information <...> from a single source and in any language of the world. Now the platform is working in Russian and English, there are plans to bring it to all languages of the BRICS countries, which, of course, will only unite the youth of our countries

The expert added that restrictions in the field of social media create a problem in obtaining information.
“ ”
Guys from a number of countries simply cannot get access to information resources – Russian, Chinese. Now it is extremely important to create alternative platforms where there will be a single pool of reliable information available in any language

Another important outcome of the event was the adoption of the Declaration of the Youth Summit, in which the participants expressed hope for deepening cooperation between the youth of the BRICS countries, and also called on their governments to support youth initiatives. The document was the result of intense discussions and included five areas: education, science and training, youth entrepreneurship, science technology and innovation, youth social work and volunteerism, health and sports. Proposals from the declaration will be sent to the BRICS Summit in Kazan in October 2024.
Ksenia Shevtsova, HeadThe HSE Office of International Partnership, Deputy Director of the BRICS Expert Council, noted: "The BRICS Youth Summit has become not only a platform for discussing topical issues, but also an important step towards the integration of young people from all countries of the association. For the first time, Russia is hosting the youth of 10 countries thanks to its BRICS presidency this year, and this is significant, given that the very first youth summit was also held in Russia."
The summit program was not limited to business events: within the framework of the cultural block, the participants managed to get acquainted with the historical and cultural heritage of Ulyanovsk and the Ulyanovsk region. In addition, a meeting was organized with the Hero of Russia, cosmonaut Sergei Kud-Sverchkov, who stayed on the ISS for six months.
Nikita Makshanov, employeeThe Expert Council of the BRICS shared his impressions: "The summit was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, made it possible to strengthen ties between participants and experts and set up productive interaction. There was also a keen interest of foreign guests in Russia, its rich culture and historical heritage, and the extensive opportunities that our state provides to young people to realize their potential."
Such initiatives help to create more sustainable and effective channels for the exchange of experience and best practices in various fields among the youth of the BRICS countries.
