Amid ongoing geopolitical turbulence, BRICS is emerging as one of the key platforms for redefining the logic of global economic engagement. Issues like de-dollarisation, trade barriers, sustainable development, and green transition now reach far beyond regional concerns—they are shaping the very architecture of tomorrow’s world order.

The BRICS Expert Council-Russia, in partnership with the School of World Economy under the HSE Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, will host the XIII Annual Conference on the World Economy. This year, the programme will focus on BRICS as a catalyst for reimagining the principles of global trade, finance, and sustainable development.

The conference will bring together leading researchers and analysts from Russia, China, Brazil, South Africa, India, Türkiye, Cuba, Morocco, Uzbekistan, and Armenia. Key discussion topics include BRICS nations’ collective response to emerging trade barriers, potential alternatives to the US dollar as a reserve currency, and the search for fair strategies for climate transition and updated sustainable development goals after 2030.

A special youth segment will be featured: on December 5, the Youth Conference will take place, where early-career researchers will present their perspectives on reshaping the global economy and BRICS’ role in the new world order.
